HAWLEY LIBRARY - MEETING SPACE
Meeting Spaces are currently unavailable.

Whether it's small, medium or large, the Hawley Library has the perfect FREE meeting space for your group. That's right - there's NO CHARGE for your group to use our Community Room, Green Room or Study Space!

COMMUNITY ROOM
Our private Community Room is located downstairs, has its own mini-kitchen and restroom facilities, and is fully handicapped accessible. Maximum capacity is 49 persons, tables and chairs are on-site and available for use. Advance booking is required and subject to certain restrictions detailed in the 'POLICIES' section below.

GREEN ROOM
The 'Green Room', also located downstairs, is open for the public to use at any time during normal library hours as long as the space hasn't been reserved for another party. Containing one long six-top, two four-tops and one three-top tables, the Green Room comfortably accommodates groups of up to 12-14 people. The space is open to the rest of the floor, so if privacy is a concern we suggest opting for the Community Room. Advance booking is required for any groups of more than 6 people and subject to certain restrictions detailed in the 'POLICIES' section below.

STUDY SPACE - COMPUTER LAB
Meeting space for study and other small groups is available without advance booking in our upstairs Computer Lab area. Two tables are in place with four chairs per, and extra chairs are available upon request. We do ask that conversation be kept to a reasonable volume to ensure that patrons using the computers aren't disturbed by your group's activities.

POLICIES
Meeting Space will be available only during regular library hours.

The Community Room and Green Room will be open for booking to organizations engaged in educational, cultural, intellectual, civic, or charitable endeavors. All meetings held in the Community Room and/or Green Room, regardless of group or organization, must be open to the public, however, no public notice is required. Organizations using the Community Room and Green Room are NOT permitted to charge an admission fee.

The Library reserves the right to use Meeting Space for library purposes before other groups. Regularly scheduled meetings may be approved by the Library Director up to 6 months in advance with the understanding that the library may have to cancel or reschedule such a meeting for library purposes with one week notice.

If the Library is closed due to weather conditions, or an emergency, the Community Room and Green Room will also be closed. The Library is not responsible for cost incurred for cancellation.

No organization will be granted use of the Community Room or Green Room for any of the following:
  • Commercial endeavors.
  • Functions that are primarily social in nature (such as weddings, birthday parties, showers, etc).
  • Raffles, lotteries or other fundraising events.
  • Illegal activities.

Permission to serve light refreshments may be granted upon request. Refreshments may not be carried into any other part of the library building. There will be a charge for cleaning of excess use of the Community Room.

The Library is not responsible for equipment, supplies, materials or other items owned by a community group and used by them in the Community Room, or for the personal property of those attending. The organization holding the meeting assumes responsibility for any damage done to the Community Room, its contents, the building and grounds, or any personal injuries sustained by attendees. The group or organization is required to sign a statement agreeing to these conditions.
