Recent reviews of qualification criteria and compliance standards for passport acceptance facilities at the federal level have established that private, charitable, non-profit or other types of non-governmental organizations are not permitted to serve as passport acceptance facilities. Unfortunately, as a non-profit, this means we are no longer eligible to participate in the program and will no longer be able to process passport applications at our location. We will, however, continue to provide our community with passport applications and renewal forms until we run out of stock. ​The Prothonotary Office at the Wayne County Courthouse provides passport processing services M-F from 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM. HPL Little Free Pantry

GIVE WHAT YOU CAN, TAKE WHAT YOU NEED.

Located on our front porch, our Little Free Pantry is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We know it can be a challenge to align work schedules with food pantry open hours, both for those picking up and dropping off, and we hope our Little Free Pantry makes things a little easier for everyone in our community. If you're in need, stop by anytime. If you'd like to donate, simply place your new, sealed, non-perishable food and paper goods on the shelves at your convenience.  
Did you know that the PA Department of Community & Economic Development offers eligible businesses an opportunity to participate in the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC)? This program provides tax credits equal to 75% of its contribution to businesses that donate to various organization types, including Educational Improvement Organizations (EIOs). You can learn more about how the EITC program works and how to apply HERE. Reduce your tax liability and help your community in the process...it's a win-win!

The Hawley Public Library is proud to be an Educational Improvement Organization, and if your business already participates in the EITC program we hope you'll consider contributing to our organization. All EITC contributions the HPL receives are used to fund our Summer Book Bingo programming and our Family Makerspace, which is available year-round to our community whenever the library is open. 
​Libraries are for EVERYONE. Libraries are PUBLIC buildings, therefore, everyone is welcome in a library. You don't have to be a bookworm to enjoy your library , either...we have something for everyone! Computers for you to use, movies on DVD for you to borrow and watch at home, eBooks and Audiobooks you can access from nearly any device, local history information and more. Our family Makerspace is open whenever the library is, and it's fully stocked with educational toys, games, arts & craft supplies, STEM kits, computers to use, and even a Nintendo Switch console for in-library gaming. ALL FREE OF CHARGE! Once you're done browsing here, please feel free to stop by in person, say hello, and perhaps even sit for a spell and enjoy the atmosphere. If you have questions, our friendly staff members and volunteers are always happy to assist you in any way they can.
Your FREE library card gives you FREE access to books, graphic novels, DVDs, Blu-rays, video games; ebooks, Audiobooks, streaming movies, music and TV; online learning that includes research tools, tutoring, cooking, crafts, and much more - we now share resources with all the libraries in the Northeast District, so you have access to 750,000 items and counting, all delivered to Hawley for you to pick up!

We're able to accept checks or money orders made payable to the Hawley Public Library. Please mail them to: Hawley Public Library, 103 Main Ave, Hawley PA 18428. Cash is welcome during open hours, too.
