SECONDHAND STORIES BOOK SALE

The Hawley Library's Secondhand Stories Book Sale is ongoing...whenever we're open, books are available for you to purchase. Our selection includes brand new books, gently used books, and well-worn classics in good condition, all at great prices. We also offer DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, Audiobooks, and other items. Be sure to stop in regularly as new items arrive at our location and are placed in our sale areas nearly every day...there's no telling what treasures you may unearth! All monies raised from our Book Sale are used to help fund our operating and collection expenses.

BOOK DONATION POLICY

​All of our Book Sale items are donated by members of our community - if you have books, DVDs, or audiobooks you no longer want or need, we'll gladly take them off your hands. Unfortunately, we are ONLY able to accept donations when the library is OPEN and you'll need to bring your items inside the library. 

Here's why:

• We can only accept certain items - books, DVDs, and audiobooks - and we want to make sure the items you bring will be of use and are in good condition. If they aren't, we have to dispose of them at our own expense. A limit of 2 boxes per donor per day is in place. Call in advance and we'll see if we can accomodate more.
• Our Book Sale is curated entirely by one of our amazing volunteer staff members. Every item is evaluated individually to determine its condition and wheter it will be added to our collection, added to our book sale, or be recycled. Thus, we need to make sure the workload remains manageable and ensure that we don't run out of storage and sale space. 

Please DO NOT leave donated materials on our porches when the library is closed. Boxes and bags of books left on our porch are a safety hazard for folks who wish to return their items in our book drop and/or browse our Little Free Library, and they also create an unexpected workload for our staff. If you are unable to bring your items when we're open, please feel free to give us a call and we'll see if we can work something out.
