YOUTH VOLUNTEER PROGRAM:
Our Youth Volunteer Program is open to students in grades 7 -12 who would like to help out in the Children's Room and make a difference in the community. Follow the link below and submit your application online. Please note that a minimum commitment of 12 hours is required for all applicants.

ADULT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM:
Our adult volunteers are an essential part of our day-to-day operations. Job duties include providing customer service in person and via phone, checking in and checking out materials, shelving materials, shelf-reading, processing new library card applications, assisting patrons with making copies and sending faxes, as well as answering a broad spectrum of patron questions. A minimum commitment of one three-hour shift per week is required. While we currently have enough volunteer coverage, you're more than welcome to come in to fill out an application and we'll reach out when a position opens up.
Our apologies, but we're not able to accommodate short-term volunteers who need to fulfill community service hours at this time.
OTHER VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES:
The Friends of the Hawley Public Library are in need of both members and volunteers to help with programs and events. If you have a talent or skill you'd like to share in order to help the Friends promote and/or fundraise for the HPL, please email [email protected].
We do all our own cleaning and basic building maintenance (that's right - we have plungers and we're not afraid to use them!) to keep our expenses as low as possible and now have a volunteer who'll be taking care of our landscaping, but there are a few projects we don't have the time and/or funding to tackle. If you're a community member or local business who'd like to donate your time, goods, or services to help us fix up a few things at the library, please contact us at 570-226-4620 or email [email protected]. We have some carpets that need to be cleaned or replaced, flooring in our restrooms that needs to be replaced, and a few rooms that need to be painted. We'll happily post your business signs on our property and give you a huge shout-out on social media!
