After careful consideration as to what is best for the health and safety of our community, we have decided to cancel this year’s festivities. We are truly saddened to take this step for the second year in a row, as the Booklovers’ Bash provides an opportunity to welcome Spring with an evening of wonderful food and fellowship. Additionally, this special night serves as one of our chief fundraisers. Our fundraisers provide needed financial support, without which we would be unable to continue providing our services at the same level. Throughout the ongoing COVID crisis, we’ve lost a significant amount of book sale and passport processing revenue due to prolonged closures to the public, and we weren’t able to hold our annual Soup Sale in December 2020. As you’re well aware, the 2020-2021 winter season required a great deal of plowing, shoveling, and salting, which in turn resulted in significant expenses for our library.
We are therefore asking that, if at all possible, you consider donating a portion of what you would have spent at the Bash directly to the library, either as a sponsor or an attendee. You may donate by sending a check, payable to the Hawley Public Library, to 103 Main Ave Hawley, PA 18428, or you may donate online by clicking the link at the bottom of this page.
This year, we’ll be able to hold our Booklovers’ Basket Raffle at the library. If you’d like to show your support by purchasing raffle tickets, you may do so at the library or you can do so online by CLICKING HERE.
For us, nothing can take the place of the Booklovers’ Bash and all it represents. Over the past year our library has faced many changes and challenges, and we’ve adapted to and overcome them with the help of our incredibly strong and supportive community. We’re always searching for new ways to best serve our community, especially during these trying times, and will continue to move forward with gratitude and hope in our hearts that in 2022 we’ll be able to gather once again and celebrate together. In the meantime, please enjoy an evening at home, perhaps reading a good book while you support the library. Be blessed with good health!
