Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, we've decided to shift our 5K Run/Walk event from in-person to virtual so we can ensure the safety of all those who wish to participate. All the details will be posted soon, but what a virtual run/walk means for you is that you choose when to run/walk your 5K, wherever you want, and whenever you want. Do it alone, or with a few friends you feel comfortable with. Do it in Hawley, Honesdale, or wherever else you may roam...whatever works best for YOU!

Wayne County went 'Green' on June 12th, and yes, we did a happy dance. Several happy dances, actually, whenever we took a break from getting everything ready for our reopening. Which, in case you haven't heard, will be TUESDAY, JUNE 23RD. We are SO EXCITED to see all of you again!!! We did make a few changes to our hours and the way we do some things, which you can read about HERE. But, we made a point of trying to keep things as 'normal' as possible while making sure everyone stays safe and healthy. It's still the same library you know and love, and when you stop in we'll be waiting for you, smiling behind our masks, ready to help you find whatever it is you're looking for and have a chat so we can catch up.
WE MISSED YOU SO MUCH - SEE YOU SOON!!! Hello Friends!
We're all very excited to be entering the 'Yellow Phase', and figured you might have questions in regard to what this means for the library. First things first - this DOESN'T mean we're able to open our doors to the public on May 22nd. Our reopening will be gradual, as the library moves through three Yellow Phase stages - Preparation, Limited Public Services, and In-Person Services. During the Preparation stage, library staff will be on site getting everything ready for curbside pickup, as well as reorganizing and re-configuring library spaces so they meet all PA Department of Health and CDC requirements and guidelines for when we resume in-person services. Our goal is to provide both library staff members and library patrons with a safe, sanitary environment while offering library patrons as many library materials and services as possible within the parameters of phase-specific degrees of social distancing requirements. On June 2nd we'll enter the Limited Public Services stage, during which we'll be able to process returned items and begin offering curbside pickup for books and DVDs. All the details pertaining to curbside pickup can be found HERE. A week or so after we begin curbside pickup, we hope to be able to allow outdoor internet access using the library's equipment for patrons on a by-appointment-only basis. Details will be posted as soon as we're ready to go. There's no timeline yet for when we'll move into the In-Person Services stage, but we do have a plan in place so we can transition quickly. You can expect the library's protections and procedures to be very similar to the stores you've been shopping at during the Red Phase...sneeze guards, social distancing markings, separate entrances and exits, etc. If you'd like to chat about library matters, or anything else, feel free to call us at 570-226-4620. We'll be available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday during the Limited Public Services stage, and we'd love to hear from you. We hope you and your families are well, and we can't wait to see you again! All the best, The HPL Staff |
